Escaped Pennsylvania inmate suspected in killing near jail
State police are searching for a man who escaped from Armstrong County Prison this morning and is a suspect in a homicide investigation. It said the woman’s body was found in the bathroom.
Authorities are looking for 38-year-old Robert Crissman who is considered extremely unsafe.
Crissman is described as a white male, 5-foot-9, 150 pounds, with strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. However, police believe he may be wearing a T-shirt and jeans and driving a red Chevy or GMC pickup truck with a cap. The truck has a union sticker and Pennsylvania license plate.
Crissman had been jailed on a non-violent drug offense, the station said.
Barry Crytzer, owner of a local advertising paper called The Horse Trader, said Crissman had worked for him as a handyman doing yard work and maintenance off and on over the past year. “This all seems really out of character from the guy I knew”.
Crissman was dressed in his green jail jumpsuit when he fled, and is now a suspect in a nearby homicide, Pennsylvania State Police said.
He was sentenced to six months probation in April for a theft, according to court records, but it is unclear why he was incarcerated.
