Europa League: Who Liverpool can draw in the round of 32
Teams from the same country can not draw each other.
Worst case scenario: As you can see, there are an terrible lot of decent teams who finished as group runners up in the Europa League. Unfortunately for the Gunners, the real hard work begins now if they’re to break a five-year run and actually progress beyond the last 16 and into the quarter finals for the first time since 2010.
Liverpool could face a host of teams that finished second in the table. Also, Villarreal, Marseille, and Sporting Lisbon could be interesting opponents.
Best case scenario: FC Sion, Sparta Prague and FK Partizan.
That further underlines United’s failings, with the two teams that made it out of their group among those that – based on their resources – are not even part of the Champions League’s top 16 teams. In that case, even if they fail to qualify for the top-four places in the Premier League, it could still provide them with a route into Europe’s elite.
The Red Devils dropped out of the Champions League, following their embarrassing 3-2 defeat to German club Wolfsburg on Tuesday night.
The information, courtesy of Twitter account Sportingintelligence, shows the 2014 income of each of the 32 teams that made the Champions League group stage in 2015/16, with the teams divided into those that qualified for the knockout round and those that failed to make the grade.
There are some intriguing draws that could be thrown up, with United facing the prospect of a clash with a Valencia side managed by their former player Gary Neville, as well as a possible clash with Robin van Persie’s Fenerbahce.
All three of the remaining English teams can meet each other in the latter stages of the Europa League.
