Even Andrea Bargnani Said No To The Sacramento Kings’s Money
Reports earlier in the day suggested that he was finalizing a deal with the Sacramento Kings, and if those reports were true, then Bargnani apparently had a quick change of heart.
As for Bargnani’s potential salary with the Kings, he may only receive a minimum deal or just barely squeeze into the team’s remaining salary cap space, as noted by ex- National Basteball Association executive Bobby Marks.
Saturday night, it seemed all but certain that ex- No. 1 overall pick Andrea Bargnani was headed to the Kings.
Bargnani is a ideal fit for the Nets if he’s ultimately able to stay healthy and play a full season, which wasn’t the case throughout his deal with the New York Knicks. The three point percentage is very good for a seven footer, but the rebounding is not.
Previous to his stint in the Big Apple, Bargnani spent seven seasons north of the border with the Raptors. Bargnani played in only 71 of a possible 164 games for the Knicks, and averaged 14.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 29 games last season.
Despite playing an average of just 34 games in the past four seasons due to injuries coupled with the criticism lashed upon him for his unwillingness to utilize his size down low in the post, Bargnani has averaged double figures in scoring in each of his nine years in the National Basteball Association. But his career has been mostly disappointing.
