Everton beats Newcastle 3-0 after 2 penalties from Barkley
Ross Barkley marked his 100th appearance in the English Premier League by converting two late penalties to complete Everton’s 3-0 win over relegation-threatened Newcastle on Wednesday.
The hosts peppered Newcastle’s goal, hitting the goal frame three times through Barkley, Cleverley and when Jonjo Shelvey headed against his own bar.
Newcastle has taken just five points from eight matches since their last league victory, at Tottenham on 13 December.
Lennon nearly had a second three minutes before the interval but his close-range effort, from a cross by Seamus Coleman, was blocked by Chancel Mbemba.
