Everton FC forward Kevin Mirallas pens new deal
Everton will end the uncertainty over the futures of James McCarthy and Kevin Mirallas by tying the pair to new long-term deals.
“I’m very happy. I’ve signed at Everton to win a trophy. I’ve loved every minute I’ve been here, with the fans having made me feel so welcome from day one, as well as the players and the staff”, McCarthy said.
The news caps a remarkable turnaround for Mirallas who looked to be on his way out of the club after expressing his frustration in January when Everton resisted two bids for the forward.
The Irish global midfielder had been the subject of some serious transfer speculation this summer with Tottenham in particular believed to be interested in signing him.
“We all know there are rules and regulations and it is something we don’t want to see when other clubs speak about your players”.
“That continuity in our squad and renewed focus will provide the strong platform on which we will build the 2015-16 campaign”.
McCarthy joined Everton for £13million in the summer of 2013 from Wigan, signing a six-year contract.
“To say I am delighted is an understatement”.
The 24-year-old has signed a five-year deal which will keep all potential bidders away from him as the Merseysiders state their determination to hang on to their best players.
