Every Beatles Album Will Be Available To Stream This Christmas
In addition to Google Play Music, the Beatles’ music will become available to stream on eight services: Apple Music, Deezer, Microsoft Grove, Amazon Prime Music, Slacker Radio, Spotify, and Tidal. Even better, the band’s music will be available on the free and fee versions of the services that have both options.
“On December 24 at 12:01 a.m. local time – here, there and everywhere – The Beatles’ music is available for streaming worldwide”.
The band’s loyal fan base and popularity around the world will surely work as a driving force to help any streaming service lure in more users.
The Beatles, finally, are about to begin streaming their catalog online, just in time for Christmas. For the Beatles to get paid that much in streaming revenue from, for example, Spotify, the band would have to attract about 540 million streams (estimated payment per stream is $0.00521).
There are many artists that can’t be found on streaming services, but none more conspicuously so than the Beatles.
The announcement telling fans about the ability to stream Beatles music came via a special video reflecting on the group’s career and is entitled, “The Beatles Now Streaming”.
The Beatles, the best-selling group of all time, are famed for classic studio albums such as Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Abbey Road and Revolver before breaking up in 1970.
Streaming couldn’t have been a bigger part of the music industry conversation in 2015. The Beatles relied upon sales from physical record copies until 2010, when they released their 13 remastered albums for download on iTunes. Last year Taylor Swift, who has repeatedly voiced her concerns about the future of the music industry, pulled all of her tunes from Spotify.
