Everything You Need To Know About Google’s New Smartwatches

“While traditional watches tell the time, Android Wear watches make the most of your time”, Android Wear’s engineering chief, David Singleton, said.

Ahead of their reveal, the user manuals for Google and LG’s collab smartwatches, named the Watch Style, and the Watch Sport, have leaked online, revealing a number of key metrics about the forthcoming Android Wear 2.0-powered wearables. This means the LG Watch Style and Watch Sport will be announced on February 8 instead of the February 9 date previously speculated by Blass.

As mentioned, the LG Watch Style will get the job done and while you can’t pay with your wrist, it’s looks to be a good way to test the waters of Android 2.0.

The Wear24 Verizon smartwatch will cost users $300 when purchased with a 2-year activation contract.

This is not surprising that the latest Android Wear version 2.0 will soon be launched, so there might be several new smartwatches in the making.

With the preinstalled Google Fit app on Android Wear 2.0, users can track their pace, distance, calories burned, and heart rate during certain activities. Incidentally, ZTE also launched a couple of smartwatches at the MWC 2016 – the Venus 1 and Venus 2. However, since Android Pay requires an NFC (near field communication) chip to be enabled, there aren’t any smart watches on the market that will now support this. The Wear24 will reportedly feature a 1.39-inch AMOLED display, a 42mm case, and a 450mAh battery. To differentiate it from other smartwatches, the watch faces on the Wear24 automatically changes the information shown on display according to the location. There’s no news on processors, RAM, physical dimensions or battery life.

While the Watch Sport will come with a charging cradle, the Watch Style variant will use a flat charging pad.

LG competes with the likes of Apple and Samsung in the smart watch market with their LG Watch Sport. It’s also slightly thinner and comes in three color options we’ve come to expect with fashion-forward watches: titanium, rose gold, and silver. Based on leaked photos, the Sport model also includes a pair of buttons above and below the crown, though it’s unclear what they do or whether they are programmable.
