EVO 2016’s lineup includes Street Fighter V and Pokken
EVO 2016 looks to be bigger and better than ever.
The organisers of Evo, the largest fighting game tournament in the world, have announced the tournament line-up, which includes Street Fighter V.
Cuellar confirmed that Street Fighter 5 would be added to the tournament for the first time, effectively replacing Street Fighter IV, which had been a competition mainstay since 2009.
Joining the Evo lineup this year is Pokken Tournament, the Pokemon fighter developed by devs from the Tekken and SoulCalibur teams.
Here’s what the folks down in Las Vegas, Nevada will be playing: Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator, Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat X, Pokkén Tournament, Street Fighter V, Super Smash Bros. Pokkén will use the game’s LAN mode to facilitate tournament play. The game is set to release in March, but the game will be tournament-ready for July. But the biggest news here is likely the complete replacement of Street Fighter IV’s latest incarnation with Street Fighter V given that there’s two versions of Smash present. Melee, Mortal Kombat X, Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator, and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
But that won’t be the only game that’s debuting at this year’s event.
Evo 2016 will take place from July 15-17 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, while the Sunday Finals will take place at the Mandalay Bay sports arena.
