Ex-Browns LB Kruger going to Saints
“I think you see a high motor and a guy that plays extremely strong”.
Last season, however, he was credited with 27 tackles, his fewest since 2011, and 2 1/2 sacks, his fewest since 2010.
The New Orleans Saints are signing pass-rusher Paul Kruger, who was recently cut by the Browns on their way down to 75 players.
The Browns have now opted to go with rookie Emannuel Ogbah as their new edge pass rusher, making the now 8th-year veteran Kruger expendable.
With outside linebacker Hau’oli Kikaha out for the 2016 season, Kruger is certainly going to help this team’s defense this year. Kruger gives them the best option to do that.
The Saints pursued Kruger back in 2013 before he signed a five-year, $40.5 million deal with the Cleveland Browns.
Ian Rapoport with the National Football League network was the first to report the story.
The Saints are listed by the NFL Players Association website to have a little more than $1.3 million available in salary cap space, so the team will need to do some maneuvering to fit him under the cap. “Thank you. Paul Kruger”. Kruger was exceptional in the pass rush last season, even if his pocket pressures only netted him three sacks.
Kruger was reportedly at the team’s facility on Tuesday, and was supposed to visit the Kansas City Chiefs afterwards. “We’ve got to look at the rotation, and we’ve got to look at who’s doing it”.
