Ex-French president Jacques Chirac in hospital with lung infection
Chirac had been staying at Royal Palace of Agadir in Morocco, located near a military hospital, at the invitation of King Mohammed VI.
French pronunciation: [ʒak ʃi.ʁak]; born 29 November 1932) is a French politician, who served as the President of France from 1995 to 2007.
Chirac has been suffering from the consequences of a cerebrovascular accident in September 2005 when he was still president.
In December, he was admitted to hospital for an undisclosed illness.
Chirac occupied various senior positions, including Minister of Agriculture, Minister of the Interior, Prime Minister, Mayor of Paris, and President of the French Republic.
In recent weeks, his team said his health had improved.
He was handed a two-year suspended prison term for colluding in the creation of 28 fake jobs for party workers when he served as mayor of Paris mayor.
In 2002, he survived an assassination attempt when a neo-Nazi gunman fired a rifle at his open-top vehicle during the annual Bastille Day parade.
