Ex-Man City, Newcastle, QPR midfielder Barton joins Burnley
Is Joey Barton a good signing for Burnley?
The 32-year old had been released by Queens Park Rangers at the end of last season after they were relegated, alongside the Clarets.
“At the end of the season when he was out of contract there was a conversation and he made it clear he respected what we’d done here and would be interested in that”.
The ex-Manchester City and Newcastle player, 32, had a spell on loan at Marseille during the 2012-13 season and earned his one England cap in 2007.
On his second-to-last trip to his new home Turf Moor he was struck by a coke bottle that had been thrown from the crowd when playing for QPR.
Despite West Ham coming close to landing the 32-year-old, Burnley boss Sean Dyche confirmed yesterday that the club had been in negotiations with Barton for nearly eight weeks before finally reaching an agreement.
Barton posted a picture of a tractors on a motorway, adding he “just heard all (Burnley) fans are en route as we speak to see the open top bus”.
Delighted to have signed for a href=”https://twitter.com/Joey7Barton/status/636975881366409216″ *August 27, 2015Looking forward to getting amongst it again. “He is the most impressive guy I have sat in front of for a long, long period of time”. Tremendous group of people at the club with ambition to be back in the PL. Can’t wait.
When a Burnley fan responded criticising him and QPR, Barton tweeted back: “We might be crap. Sean was on that list”, Barton told Clarets Player HD.
