Ex-Patriots RB Jonas Gray joins Dolphins practice squad
A day after it was reported that running back Jonas Gray would be joining the Dolphins, a move still not official in Miami, the Dolphins have apparently released McLeod Bethel-Thompson.
That leaves Miami fans in the odd position of once again having to wonder if those generally unsuccessful seasons were made even worse by New England cheating.
Gray rose to prominence last November with the Patriots, rushing for 201 yards and four touchdowns in a 42-20 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. I was surprised. I thought I did everything I can to earn a roster spot – not only earn a roster spot, but earn a starting spot. “It didn’t work out my way, but I’m excited to be here and excited to be employed”.
Before the Dolphins hit the practice field at the Doctors Hospital Training Facility at Nova Southeastern University, Albert was asked for what seemed like the 87th time this summer whether he would be in the lineup against Washington. The team doesn’t have a proven power back to complement Lamar Miller, and Gray could slide into that role if he works his way up from the practice squad, as he did a year ago with the Pats. “You think I’m going to start? I think you all know the answer already”, Albert said. “So I look at it as another opportunity to work, get better and have an opportunity to go against a starting defense and hopefully help the team win”.
Gray originally signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2012.
