Ex-Raven Terrence Cody Found Guilty Of Animal Cruelty Charges, Possessing An
Former Ravens’ defensive tackle Terrence Cody hasn’t had a tryout since being cut by the club in the wake of charges of animal cruelty.
Cody could face up to a three-year sentence. Already a draft bust, Cody’s days in the National Football League are likely over. But Ensor convicted him of five other counts related to failing to provide care for Taz. She also found him guilty of illegally possessing an alligator.
Kelley, who was also acquitted of felony charges, was also found guilty on five misdemeanor charges.
Cody was convicted of charges including aggravated animal cruelty and neglect, illegal possession and neglect of an alligator, and possession of marijuana. Prosecutor Adam Lippe said that the animal once weighed over 100 pounds, but was less than 50 pounds when he died. Cody took the canary mastiff to a veterinarian, prompting the investigation.
“He let this dog starve over more than four weeks”, Lippe said.
Other dogs were in Cody’s possession at the time were healthy, but for a few reason Taz was treated differently.
His girlfriend, Kourtney J. Kelley, 28, was also charged in the case.
According to the Baltimore Sun , the defensive tackle was found not guilty of two felony counts of aggravated animal cruelty.
Molina argued during the trial that the drug paraphernalia, marijuana and alligator belonged to Cody, not Kelley.
Cody was released by the Ravens in February after he was indicted on the charges.
