Ex-Saints pass-rusher Galette visits Redskins for physical
Much like Cam Jordan, Hicks could spend more time on the outside this season, as the Saints look to stem some of the problems of a year ago while replacing departed edge rusher Junior Galette. “But it’s what you do after that”. Galette was also charged with domestic violence in January after allegedly injuring a female houseguest while trying to remove her from his home. Charges were dropped, but the league is still reviewing the case.
Shortly before he was to meet with NFL officials, Galette was identified as the central figure in a 2013 beach brawl recorded on a YouTube video, in which a woman was struck at least twice with a belt.
Asked about the status of the NFL’s review, Galette responded: “I have no idea”. We’ll have to wait and see….
“The Redskins are bringing ex-Saints OLB Junior Galette to Richmond for a visit tomorrow”. “But I think hopefully (players) understand that there’s a lot of work to get done before we can realize any kind of potential we have”. I just have to stay enthused… “Three minutes in there and that is not necessarily easy but I would say it is easier than sitting in a punch bowl”. I haven’t had a chance to talk to him at all.
“We’ve got a great group of guys”. He spent five seasons with the Saints, appearing in 64 regular season games with 30 starts from 2010-14 before being released on July 27, 2015. Breeland was cited for misdemeanor possession of marijuana the night before the Redskins broke training camp in August 2014.
As he has no experience with the team or the Redskins’ system, he could not immediately get on the field for a full practice. He remains a very good pass-rusher, recording 10 sacks last season.
“I know the passion and love people have”, the O. Perry Walker graduate said after Friday’s second day of preseason drills at The Greenbrier. “He is a guy we feel like can be a pressure player”, Payton said. His agent tweeted that it is a one-year deal. But the low investment the team made in him might suggest that they could cut bait the second they feel Galette isn’t willing to change after a well-documented, tumultous background that stems back to his first college stop at Temple.
The next incident for Galette could be the last one, which is why the Redskins only signed him to a one-year deal. With anything comes a little bit of risk.
The Redskins are reportedly bringing Junior Galette in for a workout. “I loved it. I loved the honesty and he shared the same passion and enthusiasm that I have, and I’m just thankful to be with such a functional organization”. “It’s about the relationship I can have with the teammates”.
