Ex-Top Gear Crew ‘Not Worth the Money’ Amazon Paid, Says Netflix
To give you an idea of the difference between the trio’s Top Gear budget and their Amazon Prime budget, BBC gave Top Gear only £500,000 ($770,000) per show, allotting £1 million for the occasional episode.
The Top Gear team has been staying at the hotel in the Yorkshire Dales when Clarkson hit the 36 year-old producer reportedly over a steak.
Certainly, Top Gear was the most popular factual program in the world.
But Hammond, who along with his former Top Gear hosts has recently signed a lucrative contract with Amazon Prime for a new motoring show, was hesitant to discuss the moment he heard Clarkson had assaulted Oisin Tymon with The Times.
In the same interview, Neil Hunt qualifies Netflixs position, stating, “We have past episodes of Top Gear, so we have a pretty good gauge of what audiences like.” Until earlier this year, Netflix offered seasons 1 “20, but the first 16 seasons were removed after they made a new deal with BBC.”
An inside source close to Richard added: “Richard was there to talk about his new Sky One show, he has spoken in the past about Top Gear and Jeremy’s exit and wants to move on”.
He told the newspaper: “There’s a lot to be done because we will reinvent, do new stuff, and that’s as invigorating as it gets”. We’ve {now | presently] reached a point where all parties can move on. Hunt noted, “there is an audience for everything and it is not up to us to judge if Amazon has paid too much or not”. The trio’s salaries were just announced for their new show on Amazon; these salaries have grown tenfold.
