Exorcism to Air on Live TV
The event will be held at the St. Louis-area house where teen Roland Doe underwent the ritual in 1949.
Here’s a development that might make your head spin: Cable channel Destination America will host a live exorcism this fall.
The crew will reportedly undertake daytime and nighttime investigations to “rid the lurking spirits and demons that inhabit” the iconic home. It was also the inspiration for the film, “The Exorcist“. Destination America will air the exorcism live on October 30 at 9/8c, it was announced today at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour. However, instead of performing the exorcism on a person, the program will focus on exorcising the house itself. Though the unimaginatively titled Exorcism: Live! is the first in-the-moment presentation of such an event, this wont actually be the first exorcism seen on TV.
Destination America provided this preview: “They will explore each crevice of this terrifying home from the attic to the basement, to find whatever or whomever has scared Americans to death for decades”. And while the major networks (or maybe just NBC) have been keen on using live musicals as bait, Destination America is going old (testament) school with their upcoming special Exorcism: Live!
“As we step into one of the most haunted and well-known spirit destinations in America, ‘Exorcism: “Live!” will show exactly what is inside this infamous, highly unsafe and possessed home.” said Marc Etkind, general manager of Destination America, in a statement.
