Explosion reported at US military facility in Japan
A large explosion has hit a United States military base in Japan.
Reports indicate that there is a base warehouse burning and emergency vehicles are responding.
Video footage captures echoes of multiple explosions at the Sagami General Depot in Kanagawa, Japan, which is about 40km from Tokyo in the Sagamihara City.
The first of the blasts occurred just before 1am local time (2am AEST) but no evacuations have yet been ordered.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or death.
The site, surrounded by urban area, houses the 35th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, as well as logistical and medical departments for the U.S. military in the region.
Three explosions linked to a left-wing extremist group were reported in the vicinity of the base in April, according to the Wall Street Journal.
