Ezekiel Elliott Is Leaving Ohio State For The NFL Draft

MSU smothers it and forces an Ohio State punt.

It’s still in play, but the Wolverines would need to first beat Ohio State at noon ET next Saturday and then hope like hell Penn State can beat the Spartans in East Lansing at 3:30 p.m. ET.

Elliott, a junior said it was his last game in Ohio Stadium and that he will turn pro after the season.

Both he and coach Urban Meyer insisted he was healthy and ready to carry the ball. Tyler O’Connor picked up a pair of key first downs on the ground to extend the drive before Holmes finished it off.

Looking back at my predictions, I said 8-4 with losses to Utah, MI State, Minnesota and Ohio State. I know it was raining, but what was not working for the offense tonight? “It just hurts. It hurts a lot”. I’m disappointed in the play calling, I’m disappointed in the situations we were put in, and I wish it all played out differently. Ohio State haven’t lost a game in over a year, but these ones, right before the finish line, tend to be more painful than others.

Samaje Perine ran for 188 yards and a touchdown for the Sooners (10-1, 7-1 Big 12), who lost quarterback Baker Mayfield to an apparent head injury.

MI State answered with a 13-play, 75-yard drive to tie the game 14-14 and began its final scoring drive with 4:07 left to play after two more series of offensive futility by Ohio State. With the wind at his back, Geiger went on to make what would have been a successful kick anyway, and he didn’t miss the second time either. Too many cooks, as the saying goes.

At this point, I’m not even sure it’s fair to call the Buckeyes an actual team.

Of course, that wasn’t the expectation in Columbus, where the Buckeyes were a 13-point favorite. They’ve won a close one or two as well, including against MI State with the officials giving them a hand, but the Hawkeyes visiting Lincoln isn’t going to be an easy game.

The Spartans, who made it five straight wins for the underdog in this heated series, also snapped the Buckeyes’ NCAA-record 30-game regular-season conference winning streak. The Spartans elect to go for it on fourth down driving into Ohio State territory. I think we maybe had a couple of opportunities, but it just was obviously tough conditions to throw the ball. Bart Houston’s pass to the end zone sailed just out of reach of Tanner McEvoy on fourth-and goal from the 11 with 2 seconds left.

B1G HIGHLIGHT – Michael Geiger kicks it through the uprights as time expires to help MI State down Ohio State. He had 33 yards on 12 carries. With Clemson, Alabama, Notre Dame, Iowa, Oklahoma and Florida all winning-and Baylor and MI State posting the most impressive wins on the weekend-the Cowboys were always likely to take something of a tumble down the rankings.

O’Connor threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Trevon Pendleton to tie the game at 7-7 in the second quarter.

The Citadel 23, SC 22 – At Columbia, S.C., the FCS member Bulldogs (8-3) broke a 28-game losing streak to FCS teams, while the Gamecocks (3-8) suffered their first loss to a lower division foe since The Citadel beat them in 1990. “We didn’t – it was very conservative”, he said in his post game press conference.

Rushing offense: Ezekiel Elliott’s 15-game streak of 100-yard games ended. Those plays weren’t called.

“I was 100 percent today”, he said. This could have been one of the greatest matchups in series history, if the Cowboys had not been upset by Baylor on Saturday for their first loss of the season. But isn’t Urban Meyer supposed to be an offensive genius?

“I think it’s good to look back on that and see the people who said that”.
