Against a banged up MI State squad, Ohio State was supposed to walk away with a win on Saturday.

From the QB situation to apparently keeping Elliott happy all season, Meyer was dealing with a lot more than the public ever saw and Saturday, his house of cards collapsed and that may not be a bad thing. Honestly, I’m more anxious about his leg infection from last week.

There are still scenarios in which Ohio State, MI and Michigan State could all make it to the Big Ten Championship to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes.

MI State might not crack the top four this week, but the Spartans (10-1) have to like where they stand. They already have wins against OR – maybe the best team in the Pac-12 over the last month of the season – MI and now Ohio State.

Ohio State has won the past 10 out of 11 games versus MI, and Meyer has won three in a row for his team, but with new MI Coach Jim Harbaugh, the fate of Meyer’s Buckeyes isn’t quite so certain.

Having Ohio State out of the mix could aid the Irish in the long run. As far as the postseason goes, it’s likely the best the Buckeyes will be able to do is the Rose Bowl.

After the game, the junior running back said the coaching staff didn’t put Ohio State in a position to win the game and that he didn’t know what was going on with the play-calling and that “there’s no chance I’m coming back next year”. I hope everyone can understand how strongly I love this team … but I do not regret anything I said …

Supremely talented and completely underused, he carried the ball just twice in the second half of Ohio State’s 17-14 loss to MI State. Ohio State’s offense has never looked more inept under Urban Meyer. MI State responded after each one with a 75-yard touchdown drive. He’s run for 3,598 yards and 37 touchdowns in his career.

“I deserve more than (12) carries”, Elliott said, via USA Today, “I can’t speak for the playcaller”.

MI State knows that they control their own destiny – win and they’re in. There is supposed to be nothing bigger than The Game for Ohio State. At least not like this.

The Spartans relish the role of underdog like no powerhouse program in the country and it seemed to fuel them in the Horseshoe. It just hurts. It hurts a lot because of how we lost.

Cook took a shot to the shoulder last week against Maryland. MI State gave no hints to whether he would play but when he warmed up cautiously in pregame it was obvious something was up.

The Spartans turned into an option/quarterback run team.

Hmm. That statement came less than 48 hours after the Buckeyes did lose, and a brush fire popped up, and players started announcing they were leaving.
