F-16, small plane collide in midair – Story – Kitsap Sun
The planes reportedly are down around Moncks Corner, north of Charleston, according to the Post and Courier newspaper. The fate of those on the Cessna, which McCullough said went into the Cooper River, wasn’t immediately known.
South Carolina Air National Guard says none of its planes are believed to be involved in the air accident.
KRQE News 13 will provide updates as they become available. Anyone who finds debris from the crash should call 911 immediately so the debris can be collected.
Shaw Air Force Base said in a statement that a team of investigators would look into the cause of the crash. They also confirmed the pilot of the F16 did eject from the jet. The plane’s safety record has improved over the past decades, however.

By comparison, an F-16 is about 50 feet long and weighs almost 10 tons, not counting fuel or weapons.
