FA Cup (5th-Round): Fulham 0 – 3 Tottenham

Harry Winks is continuing to impress for Tottenham during their FA Cup fourth-round clash with Fulham this afternoon.

Pochettino’s team selection reflected his desire for a positive result as he started with Kane, Dele Alli, Victor Wanyama and Christian Eriksen whilst bringing back Belgian central defender Jan Vertonghen for his first start since injuring an ankle last month.

Kane had few complaints about the team’s overall performance either: “Winning games gives you confidence”.

“I can only speak for myself but I like to play as many games as possible and maybe the other guys do as well”. Now we have a massive game (against Gent) on Thursday.

Vertonghen said: “We played the final against Chelsea at Wembley a couple of years ago, and we want more of that”. They need their focus on the FA Cup right now, though, because Fulham will be ready to take advantage of any slip-ups in their opponents’ gameplan.

“I think the manager understands the importance of the Europa League and the FA Cup as well, and it’s good that we take it very seriously”, Vertonghen said.

The score stayed at 1-1 into and past halftime, before Jose Mourinho brought on star men Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba on 62 minutes, 13 minutes later they combined for the victor.

The visitors could well have doubled their lead just a minute later when Alli was played in on goal by Toby Alderweireld’s long ball, but the midfielder failed to connect properly with his shot with just Marcus Bettinelli to beat. Pogba sent the ball over the top of the Blackburn defense for the 35-year-old Ibrahimovic, and the Swedish star netted the 24th goal of his first season at United. A very good professional with England, with the club, with the team.

This was a far more routine outing for Kane and his team-mates as they romped past Bournemouth with a 5-1 victory.

“Training is tough, there’s no doubt about that and you have to adapt because the intensity is a lot higher but it can only make you better and it’s imperative that I keep working hard”.

“They had an wonderful attitude and belief, they gave us a really good match and with a different attitude we would lose this match”.
