FA Cup: Iheanacho completes rout as Man City whip Huddersfield 5-1
Sergio Aguero is making the most of his reprieve at Manchester City.
Sergio Aguero says he is only focused on helping Manchester City achieve their aims this season amid reports the Argentina global could return to La Liga this summer.
Hart has spent the season in the north of Italy, playing for Serie A team Torino after Guardiola made it clear the goalkeeper would not be his first choice.
The striker lost his place in Guardiola’s starting XI in January to Gabriel Jesus but an injury to the Brazilian opened the door for Aguero. “The performance from Claudio was wonderful”, he said, per the Daily Mail. When that happens, he’s involved in the game. “He is so precise with the ball, his dribbling”.
“When he plays in that level Sergio is unstoppable”.
Pep Guardiola says the Manchester City owners want him to stay at the club for a “long, long, long, long time”.
Leroy Sane, Sergio Aguero and Pablo Zabaleta all scored before half-time to spare Bravo a proper dressing down in the changing room.
It was also potentially uncomfortable for Guardiola, who has backed the keeper.
Aguero made it 4-1 after the break and he went off only for his replacement Iheanacho to add a fifth goal for City in time added on.
Hart is due to return to City in the summer although Guardiola, when asked if the England goalkeeper might have a long-term future at the club, said: “I’m so happy with Willy and Claudio”.
“They are at the top of the Championship and sometimes teams top of the Championship are stronger than some of the Premier League teams”.
However, despite Terriers boss David Wagner naming a weakened side for the clash, it was the promotion hopefuls who took a shock lead on seven minutes, with Harry Bunn firing through Claudio Bravo’s legs.
Bravo, signed from Barcelona in August, has now conceded nine goals from the last 14 shots he has faced.
Huddersfield had the first major chance of the second half, with Joe Lolley heading just wide after finding himself unmarked in the City box, with the home side looking a little sluggish in the opening exchanges.
Their next step in the competition will be away to Middlesbrough on the 11th of March.
