FA Cup: Iheanacho gets first hat-trick in City”s emphatic win
Portsmouth, a club who have fallen on hard times in the fourth tier of the English game, briefly sniffed a sensation before the Premier League’s Bournemouth battled from behind to win 2-1 thanks to an 83rd-minute Marc Pugh victor.
His very first game at Villa Park was against a Manchester City side who were on rampant form.
“This is the starting point of my career, I need to keep going”.
He added: “I don’t think it’s a good way of thinking”.
Asked if Iheanacho will now be included, Pellegrini said: “It’s a decision we are going to take during this week before the date that we can do it, but of course he pushed a lot”.
“It’s important to bring young players into the first-team but they must be good players so that we continue to be a competitive team”.
Manchester City starlet Kelechi Iheanacho was serenaded by his team-mates after his hat-trick heroics at Aston Villa. We have two days to prepare and will see which players the manager (Manuel Pellegrini) chooses. “We have to play again on Saturday so I don’t want to take the risk”.
Chadli broke the deadlock on 27 minutes but Colchester, which is at the bottom of England’s third tier, then managed to keep the Premier League title contender at bay until midway through the second half – when Eric Dier scored with a deflected shot. I know that this competition is very important for everyone in this country and for this club, because they got to the final previous year.
‘It’s a great feeling to be playing alongside so many fantastic footballers and I’m happy to be with Sergio, Yaya [Toure], Silva, Samir [Nasri] and the rest of them, ‘ Iheanacho said. If we stay in the game and frustrate them, I honestly believe that we might just get a result.
This was potentially a tricky tie for City, against a Villa side who were unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions. “Considering the quality of the players they left on the bench one could only be impressed by how competitive a side City were able to put out”.
“I made changes because I had to”, Garde said.
“We won the cup in March and then we had so many games after it in the Premier League and Champions League”. We lack a bit of confidence in front of goal, but I’m pleased we’re not conceding too many goals.
