FA Cup: Iheanacho scores as Man City wallop Huddersfield 5-1
Kelechi Iheanacho scored on his return to the Manchester City team, as they came from a goal down to defeat Huddersfield Town in their FA Cup replay on Wednesday night.
The Super Eagles forward has not played for City since January 15, following the arrival of Gabriel Jesus from Palmeiras.
“The best Sergio I have ever seen”, Guardiola said.
“We missed a lot of the last passes”. When he plays at that level, Sergio, he is unstoppable.
“With Khaldoon we speak regularly”, Pep said, “but the we spoke to Sheikh Mansour for the first time and I was really impressed how much he knew about us”.
“You would have to ask the fans (about jeering)”.
“The performance from Claudio was awesome”.
“I’m pretty sure he’s going to help us keep going until the end of the season”. And the time City played before that, they served up a belting match with Huddersfield.
As for Real’s interest, he said: “No, I’m not thinking about any Spanish teams or anything else, I’m only thinking about playing in these three months that I have left and helping the team”. Even though we had three good opportunities to score again, they have scored five.
Claudio Bravo was brought in from Barcelona as Hart’s replacement, but the Chile global has been unconvincing, losing his place to Willy Caballero, the veteran back-up goalkeeper, in recent weeks.
It followed his double against Monaco in the Champions League last week and got City coach Pep Guardiola’s seal of approval.
“We are still in the process of growing”.
“If we win we are in the quarter-finals and after that we can be at Wembley”, Fernandinho told the club’s website.
Meanwhile, Huddersfield boss David Wagner felt his side didn’t demonstrate their best qualities at the Etihad Stadium.
The FA Cup could be Citys best chance of a trophy in Guardiolas first season in charge.
And before they equalised, there were strong claims for a pair of City penalties as Jon Stankovic, not once but twice, appeared to stop shots with his hand.
