FA dismisses Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho’s appeal against suspended stadium ban
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich rejected an offer of £35.5million from Monaco for Jose Mourinho, but proposed a counter-offer worth £71million, according to reports.
Chelsea was knocked out of the League Cup by Stoke on penalties, but Mourinho ended the suggestion that his side would go in search of revenge, insisting they have nothing to avenge. “I don’t know [where I will watch the game]”.
And Mourinho has refused to respond publicly about his stadium ban from the FA amid criticism over his conduct.
He added: “Yesterday, a friend sent me a few quotes following the Champions League final in May 2004”.
“I resisted well to the nature of my job – 11 years waiting for this”.
Reports of dissent in the ranks – one player reportedly said he would prefer to lose than win for Mourinho – have been repeatedly dismissed, with Cesc Fabregas publicly denying he was the ring-leader yesterday morning.
“In May 2004 I said that one day in my career bad results would come”.
“It took time, but came in a moment where I am stable and I am strong to face it”.
“It’s a very sad accusation because you are accusing a player, or more than one player, of dishonesty. If I accuse you of being a dishonest journalist I think you would be very upset and probably take legal action”, said the manager. “We know we need to be better, for this club and for him”.
“I want to make it clear again, referees are afraid to give decisions”. “I think it helped towards the end of last season when we weren’t quite sure what Asmir’s thinking was and what his intention was, so it was important that I showed Jack I trusted him”, said Hughes.
There may have been another defeat – this time off the field – but fragile confidence was boosted by Wednesday’s win, when the home crowd made clear their support for Mourinho.
“For my players I do everything”.
Mourinho – who has come under pressure following a dismal start to Chelsea’s campaign – has already been handed a stadium ban by the FA this week over his behaviour during the defeat to West Ham on October 24.
In the last five years, teams who have won the Europa League have won, on average, 74 per cent of their fixtures in the competition, whereas teams who have finished fourth in the Premier League have won only 57 per cent of their games.
“At the original commission hearing, Mr Mourinho was given a suspended one-match stadium ban and fined £50,000 after he admitted a breach of FA Rules in relation to post-match media comments made following the game against Southampton on Saturday 3 October 2015”.
