Facebook Bug Shows Users How Popular They Are, Drains Batteries Faster
A bug that infected Facebook’s mobile website let users see view counts for their own and others’ posts throughout the social network, The Verge reported.
A Facebook bug was recently reported by a number of users on social media indicating that you can see how many people see your posts and other people’s posts on Facebook.
However, the bug appears to be noticed only by users using the mobile site and not on the desktop version or the mobile apps, according to The Independent. The view counts display only under shared or posted links and sometimes under photos, and it is unclear if the metrics are entirely correct.
Seeing the numbers of views, or the lack of it, seemed to have not pleased the general public. Facebook, however, told The Verge that it was aware of the issue and was already working to get rid of the bug soon, according to The Daily Mail.
While the bug has been fixed and you can no longer see the number if views you had, it’s a good thing for Facebook to gradually boost the ego of a user instead of obsessing over the number of views they have.
What I’ve personally learned is that all my semi-philosophical and artsy Facebook posts will never be as popular as a YouTube video of a little girl holding a baby hedgehog in her palm.
This counter was displayed in the same spot where you would normally see how many people liked or commented on your Facebook post. Many have invested heavily in growing the number of likes on their page.
