Facebook goes down for second time in one week
FACEBOOK users are unable to access the social networking site after it went down this evening.
Generic Error 404 messages including “Service Unavailable” and “Sorry, something went wrong” have no doubt caused great frustration among selfie aficionados as well as “hardly working” employees on this slow Monday afternoon.
Twitter even had the hashtag #FacebookDown trending for several hours, as users were desperately looking for a cause of their Facebook forced hiatus.
Users are not able to login to the services, having last week received error messages when trying log in on desktop, mobile and tablet. The second outage came just a few days after the site shut down for several minutes on September 24.
There’s nothing like Facebook going down to get people talking on Twitter.
So, facebook might be working on some update for better user experience.
The site, which boasts over a billion users, prides itself on never going down – which makes it all the more painful when the unthinkable happens.
“Without this capabilty, businesses and the customers – including Facebook members and advertisers – who rely on them can be thrown back to the dark ages”, said Jones.
Most importantly, Facebook is still refusing requests for an explanation.
“Facebook is down. Our street is full of new mums showing pictures of their kids to total strangers…” wrote Marc Iles.
The social network used by more than one in seven people on Earth went down early Tuesday morning along with Instagram, its photo-sharing network.
Patch reached out to Facebook after the outage to see what happened.
