Facebook Is Finally Launching A ‘Dislike’ Button
A Facebook friend posts a poignant photo from war or natural disaster, or perhaps news about a loved one’s death, the loss of a job, a bad breakup. Though Zuckerberg didn’t explain exactly how a dislike button would work.
CNBC reports that the announcement was made during a public Q&A session held in Menlo Park, California, yesterday. However, the company has been reluctant in fear of people using a “Dislike” button as a way to disrespect other users. “We’ve finally heard you and we’re working on this and we will deliver something that meets the needs of the larger community”. “So I do think it’s important to give people more options than just like as a quick way to emote and share what they are feeling on a post”.
The dislike option is a really complicated option to offer on Facebook and hence the company will be carrying out several tests before rolling it out for the Facebook users all over the globe.
According to Zuckerberg, users want Facebook to have a way for them to express “empathy”. “That isn’t what we’re here to build in the world”, Zuckerberg said last December. For more in-depth information please do visit Tech Crunch as they have more information on this.
Considering that a lot of social media sites like YouTube have a “Dislike” button, it seems odd that Facebook doesn’t have one.
While reaction buttons such as “I’m sorry”, “interesting” or “dislike” have been suggested in the past, Zuckerberg voiced some concern. If you have any experience with Facebooks platform for this, you will be familiar with the social network’s instruction to simply ignore the hurtful posts or to unfriend the damaging people. However, it probably won’t be called a “Dislike” button. Andrew Digiorgio of Texas said he thinks it’s a good idea because it would serve that exact goal .
He said the new button is ready to be tested soon and could be rolled out broadly depending on how it does.
There are also those who just seem to run out of words to say and believe that clicking “Like” is enough to express all his thoughts.
