Facebook launches test of ‘Reactions,’ its version of the ‘dislike’ button
Zuckerberg said for a long time that the feature wouldn’t be integrated in the “Dislike” button that many people had asked for, and that users wanted so much that it has spawned its own scams.
Chief product officer Chris Cox unveiled the new “Reactions” feature in a post on Facebook.
Now Facebook has revealed that users will have six options, labeled as “love”, “haha”, “yay”, “wow”, “sad“, and “angry”.
“Today we’re launching a pilot test of Reactions – a more expressive Like button”.
Unfortunately, you won’t be seeing the new buttons unless you live in Ireland or Spain, as Facebook are testing the waters before they launch the emojis globally.
Just press and hold the Like symbol to activate Reactions, and the new options will appear alongside the familiar thumbs-up icon.
Facebook is rolling out new emoji’s for the users. Spain and Ireland were chosen as both countries have largely national user bases without extensive worldwide friend networks.
Zuckerberg, however, said he wasn’t interested in making his site a Reddit-style upvote/downvote bonanza and instead anticipated that Facebook would allow users to “express empathy” via a wider range of emotional responses.
Reactions gives you new ways to express love, awe, humor and sadness.
Though Facebook has not given green signal to the dislike button, it is all set to come up with Reactions button by adding 6 types of emojis to the Like button.
It works by hovering or long-pressing the Like button and selecting the relevant emoji that you want to put in your message. It has offered more than the dislike button.
Reactions will be tested for a while and could end up being added for the social network’s 1.49 billion monthly active users soon. He spoke about this during a Q&A session at the company’s headquarters and confirmed that the button would soon be tested.
