Facebook launches video profile pics
The information that you have set to public will not be buried into the sub-sections, but show up right under your profile. Three main features have been officially unveiled by the social networking website today: Profile Video, more control over your profile and a new revamped mobile user interface.
You’ll be able to see all of the new stuff on Facebook web platform, but you can only edit your video through the mobile app.
“People visit Facebook profiles more than four billion times per day, and we’re continually looking for ways to make profiles the best place for people to curate their online identities and connect with others”, said Facebook product managers Aigerim Shorman and Tony Hsieh.
Facebook is getting more exciting.
Instead of a profile picture, you can have a profile video on Facebook.
Now the company is starting to test the next step: profile videos.
The social media giant, Facebook, will now introduce an option for users to record a seven-second video clip in GIF-style to replace static photos as the user’s profile picture.
Users can also set a temporary profile picture that reverts to their old picture at a specified time.
Facebook has announced a new “profile videos” feature as part of a range of mobile updates.
The profile section will also now include a 100-character Bio field appearing below the profile picture.
“We’ve seen a lot of people “hack” their profiles to show bits of their personality like nicknames, and we wanted to give people a new, freeform space at the top of the profile to do that”, a Facebook spokesperson was quoted as saying. When you tap your profile picture, along with an “Upload Photo” and “Choose from Photos”, there should be an option to upload “Profile Videos”. “It can be a visual status update to let your friends know what’s going on in your life today, or it can be your statement of solidarity for a cause you feel strongly about”, Facebook wrote. While this space is visible to anyone who visits your profile, you have full control of what information appears here. These projected changes are expected to begin testing phases immediately.
