Facebook Marks 12th Birthday
Social media network Facebook celebrates its 12th birthday on February 4, 2016, and has marked the occasion by releasing a Friends Day profile page video feature, two new sticker packs, and a statistical snippet.
The collages will be packaged in video presentations of photos of friends and family that have been previously been posted on Facebook.
To celebrate, the company invited 18 people from global Facebook community GirlCrew to share their own experiences in a video featured in the Friends Day blog post. The video has been placed on top of the News Feed and it can be accessed by clicking the Watch Yours button just beneath the clip.
There are also two new friendship-themed sticker packages available, which can be sent to other users via Facebook’s Messenger app. Here what Mark Zuckerberg recently said about the plans for the day Our anniversary has a lot of meaning to me as an opportunity to reflect on how far we’ve come together as a community.
It seems only like it was yesterday when people first heard of Facebook.
Facebook’s data science team crunched the numbers on the social network’s friendship graph.
To commemorate the founding of the social network, it has come out with some special features that Facebook users can take advantage of on what the social network site calls “Friends Day”. Or if you’re unhappy with the photos the algorithm chose, you can edit the content of the video to suit your liking. Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg scores a 3.19, and its COO Sheryl Sandberg is even more connected with an average of 2.92. “Friendship isn’t a distraction from the meaningful things in life”.
“This is a significant reflection of how closely connected the world has become”, Facebook said. “We felt like the world was making it too much about us and it’s not about us”.
