Facebook’s Notes Makeover A Hit
Mashable also remarks that the last significant update to the feature was 2010. The move, which was first spotted last month as Facebook began testing it, marks the first time Notes has been updated in years. Chances are the new interface will help popularize the old feature for the masses.
The brand new Facebook Notes is now publicly available – on both the website and app version.
The launch is aimed at getting Facebook users to post more long-form content on the social network, which is essentially what the feature was always for.
It could be said it’s for those posts that have less to do with update on current events, and more to do with long stories, general ramblings or for those with journalistic aspirations. Changes include the ability to add cover art, caption images, resize inline photos and format text. This seems to be Facebook’s way of drawing in more bloggers to their platform, so for anyone who has ever maintained a blog, it’s mostly like that. While there are built-in buttons for it, the new Notes allows the user to bold, underline, and italicize text via keyboard shortcuts, as per Mashable. I guess as Facebook continues to work on its publishing features for media outlets, it would also ensure that its 1 billion plus users will eventually want to migrate to Notes as their medium of choice when it comes to putting up blog posts.
