Facebook’s Year In Review montage is out (and editable) now
This time, however, it’s trying to weed out the bad memories.
As was the case with last year’s album, you’ll be able to share your Year in Review photos with the rest of your Facebook friends, as well as edit the album before you share it. But unlike a year ago, you don’t have to worry about seeing photos of your ex, or loved ones who passed away. If you are not familiar with the tool, what it basically does is share the picture you posted in the a year ago combined with pictures that you have been tagged in.
The “Your Year in Review” basically comprises of ten photos selected by Facebook that it thinks are the most interesting (liked or commented) ones. The interface has been made much simpler, which we’re told is intentional, as Facebook wants to show that users are in control. This means that many people were reminded not only of the good things but also of the bad things that happened in a said year, including breakups or death.
This time the company will allow you to decide which pictures you want to make the final cut. This way Facebook wants to show their users that their opinion is heard and matters. While Facebook chooses 10 photos automatically, users can veto them and choose others from a large bank of pictures.
It now prompts users to try the new tools when they change their relationship status on the social network. The spokesperson added that Facebook suggests its users a number of photos from past months.
This year, when deciding which photos to include in your year-end album, Facebook won’t include pictures where memorialized accounts or exes are tagged, the company says. No more photos will appear due to the backlash Facebook got past year when on Eric Meyer’s News Feed appeared an inconsiderate photo.
