Facebook to allow ‘moving’ profile pictures and #TBT filters
Facebook, the most popular social networking platform with around four billion visitors a day, is set to launch a new feature of “profile video” in their mobile application.
The video will play for anyone who visits your profile, letting you showcase a bit more of your personality. It means you can now set a special profile image just for your holiday, or to celebrate Throwback Thursday.
“We’re making it easier for you to see what others can view by introducing a new customizable space at the top of your profile”.
Only a “small number” of iPhone users in the United Kingdom and California will have access to the feature at first, though more people will gain access “soon”. Today we’re starting to test the next step in an obvious evolution of profiles: “profile videos”, the company said in a news release.
Facebook has completely changed the way that the user profile is displayed, offering users to upload 7 second videos as a “profile video”, replacing the profile picture. The profile picture will be bigger, and it will be centered on top of the cover photo.
The basic idea behind the concept is that a user will be able to give you a temporary profile picture that you can set a time limit on.
The social network is also tweaking a few design details, including putting profile pictures front and centre on the mobile display.
The company will also change the size and layout of users profile pictures.

The new features are created to highlight ‘what’s going on in their life, what’s important to them now in more expressive ways, ‘ Facebook project manager Aigerim Shorman told TechCrunch.
Along with the option for a fun looping video, the team at Facebook has also made a decision to focus on profile photos.
