Facebook to improve News Feed on mobile for those with 2G connections
Facebook also said that they will publish significant tales in the News Feed, chiefly on sluggish web connections and that users can now also make their remarks on posts when they are without web connection. This will take place while a user navigates to News Feed from the app or pulls down to refresh stories at the top of the feed, or even when one is scrolling through the News Feed. Users who are suffering from poor internet connections can now experience by overcoming the fluctuations in the network. Likewise, it is also enhancing the way its users would post a comment, which will remain possible even offline.
The app will now let you comment on posts even when you’re offline.
Social networking giant Facebook has declared that it will perk up its News Feed to upload posts quicker for those who are using FB on cellular phone via the slower 2G connections.
Just type in your comment and it will save your comment until you’re connected again and then post it automatically once your connection resumes. The user gets to view stories that they’ve missed, while new content loads in the background.
“What we realised was that, as a company, we had lots of people headquartered in Silicon Valley and Menlo Park and over time they decided they needed to make it more of a priority to understand the experience of people outside of the developed markets, and especially [outside] Silicon Valley”. And therefore, it has introduced some enhancements in the news feeds so that it works seamlessly despite any network. “When we receive new stories from the server when you’re back online, we load and rank those stories normally”, adds the post. But this new update comes with a snag. While this new feature might spur an excitement in you, it will at the cost of a higher bandwidth and battery consumption.
In the month of October, Facebook updated its app to identify poor internet connections and bring you the unread posts from the device memory.
