Facebook users have 3.57 degrees of separation between them
Due to an increase in Facebook users, the company says people have grown more interconnected, thus shortening the distance between people in the world.
Zuckerberg made the comments earlier this week during an event at the company’s new Frank Gehry-designed headquarters created to celebrate Facebook’s 12th anniversary Thursday, February 4, which it has dubbed Friends Day. For in a combination of sentimentality (“the power of friendship”) and detached, corporate blandness (“we invite the world to reflect on the importance of connecting”), Facebook has declared today “Friends Day”.
Facebook had 1.59 billion monthly active users as of the end of December, 2015, according to its website.
Much like the company’s end-of-year personalized videos that show a user’s greatest moments from the past year, Friend’s Day videos show a user their algorithm-picked best moments with friends that you’ve shared on Facebook.
Facebook is celebrating Friends Day today with a special video as it marks 12 years.
So you can now celebrate alongside Facebook with two new tools that allow you to see how the social network has helped you become friends with so many people. What began as a simple group for one woman who did not want to face the often brazen atmosphere of clubs has morphed into a 22,000 strong membership group on Facebook and more than 40 cities worldwide.
Facebook’s Data Science team said that in 2016 people’s average “degrees of separation” number is 3.57. “And when we fight for what we believe and change the world, we do that with friends too”, he added.

With the passage of time, Facebook has earned quite a name among the people and has turned into a necessity.
