Fairfield Library to Celebrate ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Movies

Remakes of “Dumbo”, “The Lion King”, “Aladdin”, “Mulan” and “Pinocchio” are all in development, along with sequels to “The Jungle Book” and “Maleficent”.

I like the way all the characters develop, particularly when they grapple with what loss has created in their lives. “I design a structure and other people live in it”.

For instance, the song “I’ll Show You”, proves to be a satisfying replacement for the original opening track, “Belle”, while his song “Company” is a great stand-in for “Be Our Guest”. You don’t have to put anything on it.

Emma Watson is boot-wearing bookworm Belle. In fact, right before I sat down in the theater, I had a last minute thought that perhaps this new take would ruin my childhood. Those dopey moments made me think that the story deserved better and that they were maybe added just for the kiddos, but honestly, I think the kiddos deserve better too. Watson portrays the iconic Disney Princess with her own twist, but the performance is a little bland compared to what Gad, Stevens and McGregor did with their characters. The songs speak for themselves.
