Fallout 4 Doesn’t End with the Main Story, Has No Level Cap
Players will be able to continue leveling even after the main story is over, as well as continue participating in missions.
While continuing the game after completing the story is common in open-world games like Fallout, this wasn’t the case in either Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas, though the former did add this with the Broken Steel add-on.
For comparison’s sake, the most recent installment of the series, Fallout: New Vegas, offered a level cap of 30 for the main game and would go all the way to 50 through DLC campaigns.
By forgoing a level cap, Fallout 4 becomes an even larger adventure than previously anticipated. The game is introducing plenty of new features for fans to indulge in, including weapon customization, settlement creation, and a revamped VATS combat system.
The lack of a level cap is yet another touchstone in Bethesda’s free-form design philosophy for Fallout 4. According to one report, Fallout 4 will contain over 400 hours of gameplay but that’s a fact that remains to be seen.
