Family and friends gather for Bobbi Kristina Brown funeral
Shortly after attending the funeral of his daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown on Saturday, August 1, R&B star Bobby Brown had to rush his wife, Alicia Etheredge, to the hospital, TMZ reports.
Controversy has surrounded the funeral after Pat was said to have specifically requested the service should have a “sweet 16” theme, angering Bobbi Kristina’s godmother Dionne Warwick who reportedly threatened to boycott the funeral.
Many guests attended the private ceremony, including the singer Monica, actor Michael Jai White, and Mayor Kasim Reed.
At the wake, Krissi’s boyfriend Nick Gordon was absent, Us Weekly noted.
Bobbi Kristina’s grandmother, gospel singer Cissy sang The Lord is my Shepherd. Brown spoke with reporters and told them that the feud between the Brown and Houston families is just getting started.
The hearse carrying Bobbi Kristina’s body is reported to have arrived three hours ahead of the service.
In a lovely touch, the final song of the day was Jesus Loves Me by Whitney Houston.
Bobbi Kristina’s paternal aunt, Leolah Brown, was KICKED OUT OF THE SERVICE following a weird outburst at Pat Houston.
She reportedly screamed at Bobbi’s aunt, on her mother’s side of the family, Pat Houston saying: “Whitney [Houston, Bobbi’s mother] is rolling over in her grave!”
Her father Bobby was left traumatized and distraught and said in a statement after her death released by his lawyer: ‘Krissy was and is an angel.
“How dare you?” That’s when Tyler Perry stepped in and helped escort her outside the St. James United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, Ga. Earlier this week, Leolah took to Facebook to accuse Pat of using their niece’s name for her “personal gain”. She also was found unresponsive in a bathtub. New Jersey native Houston, who died at the age of 48, was laid to rest in the cemetery after her February 2012 death.
Now as the Houston and Brown families continue to mourn their loss, those looking on from behind the barricades want them to know that their thoughts are with them.
