Family dog kills 3-day-old baby

She later died at a hospital. “But a newborn, we know how precious life is and it’s very unfortunate this happened”.

The dogs were handed over the the woman’s brother.

But the two canines, said to be Shar-pei and pit bull mixes who belonged to the woman’s brother, came into the home and bit the child.

The dog responsible for the attack and another dog were taken from the home to be put down.

The case is still being investigated by Police, but they do not believe there to be any foul play… this was simply a tragic accident.

“At this point, we believe it was an unfortunate accident”, Macias said. Family members identified the baby as Susie Kirby. According to DogsBite.org, a group dedicated to educating the public about unsafe dog breeds – pit bulls specifically – says that pit bulls account for a staggering percentage of dog-attack deaths. Dogs can be aggressive for all sorts of reasons.

An official with the Central California Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said the dogs would be euthanized.
