Family in quadruple slaying likely beat with hammer
Police have arrested a North Carolina man accused of killing a woman and her three young daughters, whose bodies were found Tuesday night, reports CBS affiliate WNCT.
Toone is being held at the Richmond Justice Center awaiting extradition and is being held on one count of murder for Howard’s death.
According to Greenville Police spokeswoman, Kirsten Hunter, the apprehended suspect will be extradited back to North Carolina on Friday.
Greenville police say the bodies of 32-year-old Garlette Rosette Howard and her daughters – ages 6, 7 and 11-years-old – were discovered at the home in the 1100 block of Grovemont Drive around 8 p.m. after family members of 39-year-old Dibon Toone asked police to check on the children who lived there.
Toone had previously faced charges in 2009 after Ms Howard reported her auto had been taken without permission. Investigators say there will be additional charges. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.
‘Dibon Toone betrayed that trust, and as a result, these little girls and their mother paid the ultimate price’. In this case, it ended in tragedy. The police department has no record of any other domestic violence related to the couple.
Even though neighbors remember the argument, no one called police.
Greenville Police Chief Marrk Holtzman says that Toone was involved in a romantic relationship with Howard and is believed to be the father of the two youngest children.
Police in Greenville planned to release more information during a press conference scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday. Police said he was driving Howard’s vehicle at the time of his arrest.
Holtzman said some news outlets have quoted neighbors as saying that they had witnessed a physical fight days ago between Howard and Toone, but that no calls were made to police about it. As her work-issued vehicle wasn’t at the residence at the time, there was no indication, at that point, that Howard was in danger.
Detectives said Toone stole his girlfriend’s work SUV from Greenville and drove up to Richmond. GPD alerted local authorities in Richmond’.
