Family of six dead in MI, carbon monoxide suspected
Four children and two adults were found by a relative Sunday afternoon in their bedrooms at a home in Fenton Township, near Flint.
A family of 6 died in MI over the weekend after a faulty generator caused carbon monoxide to fill their home.
He said the family seemed to have a generator running in the house, some 50 miles (80 km) northwest of Detroit, after a power outage in the area on Friday.
Crews from Consumers Energy were called to the home to clear it of toxic fumes.
The family members were all found in different rooms. The victims have been named as Leonard and Heather Quasarano, and their children, Luke, 11, Brenden, 9, Rachel, 7, and Grant, 2.
Three of the children attended Linden Elementary School in Linden, Michigan.
He said the home, on Stony Brook Pass, lost power at around 9:30 p.m. Friday night.
“It’s just a very tragic accident”, Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell said Sunday, according to NBC News. At last check the $35,000 goal had been surpassed.
