Family Slain in TX to be Buried in MN
Hundreds of mourners are expected at a church in La Crescent, where a funeral service will be held for two adults and six children found shot to death in their Houston, Texas, home this month.
Conley is jailed in Texas on charges of capital murder in the shootings.
A Bikers Against Child Abuse member stands watch in front of United Method Church in La Crescent, Minn., on Thursday, August 20, 2015, during a funeral service for the eight victims of the August 8, shooting in Houston, Texas. Authorities say he handcuffed most of the family members and eventually shot each in the head. The group Bikers Against Child Abuse was also at the church to show support and provide privacy to the family.
The victims, including six children, will be buried in the area because the last surviving sibling lives there. The slain children were 13-year-old Nathaniel, 11-year-old Honesty, 10-year-old Dwayne, 9-year-old Caleb, 7-year-old Trinity and 6-year-old Jonah. Conley had a past relationship with 40-year-old Valerie Jackson, who was one of the victims.
A crowd funding page was started by Valerie Jackson’s brother in hopes of raising $50,000 to cover the cost of transporting the bodies to La Crescent, where they will be buried at Prince of Peace Cemetery, the obituary says. He later pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was sentenced to time served.
