Fan-made Half-Life follow-up coming to Steam next month
Seabrook announced on Steam today that the game is now available for preorder, with a release in February 2016. The title is a standalone game and does not require users to own or have Half-Life 2 installed. It’ll the continue the story that Gearbox Software began with Half-Life 1: Opposing Force. The game picks up the story of U.S. Marine Adrian Shephard and is set in the Nova Prospekt prison as the events of Half-Life 2 unfold.
While the alleged insider admitted that he still has no idea regarding the story, he said players will now be able to control the game’s pacing and interact with everything in the game since there are no more cut scenes to be experienced. Black Mesa, a full remake of the original Half-Life game using the development power of the Half-Life 2 engine, also has the company’s blessing. In its absence, die-hard followers have had to rely on fan-made mods and remakes for their fix. He’s also taken the time to improve AI and create a modded HUD. The Mirror reminds fans that Valve collaborated with HTC recently to come up with the HTC VIVE VR headset, which means an upcoming game from the developer will certainly sport VR.
So, Valve has a history of hiring independent developers and modders that show talent.
Many areas and visuals in “Prospekt” will be very familiar to “Half-Life” fans. Seabrook developed the entire game himself, and its length is comparable to Half-Life 2’s episode one. And well he should be; he’s likely to make out fairly well from this deal himself, and his efforts weren’t wasted.
The new expansion is called “Prospekt” and will be available in February of this year, you can even pre-order the game now, just follow this link.
