Fan taken into police custody for hitting WWE wrestler with briefcase
Roman Reigns was hit in the back and neck with a fake Money in the Bank briefcase tossed into the ring by a fan in Victoria, British Columbia during a WWE house show on Saturday (August 8). “An altercation ensued in which the ref had to leave the ring and run to the aid of security”. Thankfully, Roman was able to recover enough to finish the match, scoring a victory over Bray.
Here’s a video of what happened after the incident. The briefcase struck Reigns in the back of the head, injuring him during the match. Scan BC on Twitter reported that Victoria Police responded to a call about someone who “assaulted a WWE wrestler”. Bryan Edwards says the fan who attacked Roman Reigns was arrested for the incident.
The fan reportedly had a replica of the Money In The Bank briefcase, the same kind of briefcase that Seth Rollins used to rob Roman of the WWE Championship.
Due to egging the fan on, everyone involved in the incident was booted from the venue.
Edwards added that no charges were filed and that the fan apologized, but the 31-year-old male has been banned from attending any future WWE live shows. The fan at the WWE event last night didn’t jump the barricade and just threw a heavy, and expensive. object at Reigns.
