Fans can stream Beatles music at several sites as of December 24
As expected, The Beatles’ catalog has arrived on Apple Music on this Christmas Eve.
We are sure there will be plenty of Beatles music streamed this Christmas thanks to all the band’s fans around the world and all the new devices under the Christmas trees tomorrow. Now, fans have the real thing and stream Beatles music so are likely to prefer it to the tribute bands’ versions.
Streaming music services including Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play and Amazon Prime Music, are among the many others set to stream the band’s songs, the tech website reported.
“On December 24 at 12:01am local time – here, there and everywhere – The Beatles’ music is available for streaming worldwide”, an announcement on the band’s website said.
John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr accumulated 17 number one singles in the United Kingdom charts as the Beatles.
The Beatles have sold about 900,000 albums and 2 million digital songs this year, down from 1.2 million albums and 2.7 million songs last year, according to Nielsen Music.
Financial Times wrote that the band’s entrance into the streaming services scene will dampen the Beatles’ tribute acts that have occupied the online music platforms with their covers of the Fab Four’s music.
This announcement comes as a pleasant surprise as it was five years ago when the group’s back catalogue was made available for purchase for the first time on Apple’s iTunes, according to News.com.au. This step by the steaming services is expected to churn out better revenues for companies like Spotify and Apple Music.
After the announcement of the Beatles’ arrival to streaming services, Google Play revealed that the most searched Beatles albums and song lyrics were topped by “Abbey Road” and “Hey Jude”, Rolling Stone noted.
