Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them — TRAILER

Warner Bros. Pictures released the first teaser trailer for its eagerly awaited Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Tuesday morning.

Scamander isn’t a wizard but rather a globe-trotting magizoologist who arrives in NY during 1926. Packing a suitcase packed to the brim with odd and wonderful creatures, Newt’s lifework could spell danger to the wizarding world should it fall into the wrong hands or, worse, if said monsters were to escape.

After what seems like an eternity since The Deathly Hallows, the magical world of Harry Potter is returning to our screens. We get a glimpse of Eddie Redmaynes Newt walking with his case, and the sight of a building that looks blown apart. “I love the Harry Potter films [and] books so for me this is just the most wondrous gift really”.

Among other cast members are Katherine Waterson, Alison Sudol, Tony Award victor Dan Fogler, Ezra Miller, and Golden Globe Award victor Samantha Morton.

The film is set in New York City in the 1920s, 70 years before the events that occur in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. We didn’t even see any of the fantastic beasts!

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hits theaters November 18, 2016.

One thing’s for sure: J.K. Rowling is more excited than anyone. Those who have read JK Rowling’s Comic Relief textbook of the same name will understand just how grave a situation NY finds itself in given some of the monsters that are listed.

The film, based on the wildly popular Harry Potter series and its spin-off books, marks Rowling’s screenwriting debut.
