Fantasy Football’s Week 4 Waiver Wire Targets
Reports suggest that the Bills will go without LeSean McCoy this week, as he rests a hamstring injury.
The Dallas Cowboys have been riddled with injuries, as they lost Tony Romo and Dez Bryant for an extended period of time.
That, plus Ivory’s injury, makes him a risky play in fantasy football this week.
Karlos Williams came into the season an unknown but has turned out to be a fantasy starter, at least for this week. However, with Big Ben out and Michael Vick in, it’s hard to imagine Brown’s production will remain the same.
Derek Carr, QB, Oakland Raiders: Carr is a very realistic consideration for this weekend if you’re in need of a quarterback. The Chiefs passing game has been mainly focused around Travis Kelce and Jamal Charles, but Maclin finally got in the mix on Monday Night as he found the end zone, ending a streak of 18 games in which a Chiefs wide receiver didn’t score a touchdown. Washington is the eighth toughest rated matchup for fantasy running backs. Cook doesn’t get enough consistent targets to be a legitimate fantasy starter. If he starts, expect the Raiders to get ample opportunity on offense.
Devonta Freeman – Falcons: Freeman took over the No. 1 spot on the RB depth chart with a single good game, which kind of shows you the faith the Falcons truly have in rookie Tevin Coleman. Williams should be considered a tail-end RB1 if McCoy sits.
Randle is quite the gamble, but the big Week 3 is pretty encouraging. I’m looking for low-end RB1 numbers from Williams here.
There’s great value here when you add that with Ivory’s 14.8 FanDuel points per game average this year – as long as he’s an active participant in the game. I’m not buying it, and I think Brown and Bell will suffer as a result.
I also like the Colts to beat up on the lowly Jaguars, and I think they discovered the secret to success last week against Tennessee – pound Frank Gore. They will undoubtedly throw, throw, throw, which in turn will force Blake Bortles to throw. Miami as a whole has been a disappointment but that doesn’t mean the offense can’t move the ball.
Philadelphia Eagles defense: With the fantasy world running away from the Eagles, I am running toward them… this week anyway. The Jets want to run the ball early and often, which they were able to do in their two victories on the season. Three of the lower rated backs that have already faced Tampa Bay have scored double digit fantasy points including 20-plus point performances from Alfred Blue and Bishop Sankey. Carr is not a household name, as he is owned in 44 percent of leagues (ESPN). Stafford has had vast struggles in 2015, as he is only averaging 13.4 points per game and ranks 23 among quarterbacks in total fantasy points.
Technically, I’m progressing, as my fantasy football team scored more than the week prior, but not in the money yet. Be sure to check back next week as we review our picks and give you even more picks! He was injured in Week 2, but was out-carried by James Starks 17-10 on 31 snaps after coming back last week. It’s not safe to assume that Ellington is still No. 1 on the RB depth chart upon his return. Hankerson is more of a WR4 than the WR3/Flex player people are treating him like. So far this season he is the highest scoring Broncos RB and the healthiest. But, Hankerson was only able to convert those 11 targets into 6 catches for 77 yards and a TD. His production just isn’t near what it needs to be to justify playing him right now. That said, Randle logged seven grabs for 116 yards and a score in Week 3 and will be going up against a pass-permissive Buffalo defense. The problem with Randle is he is not, and has never been, a difference-maker at WR. Stewart could be looking at his first double-digit scoring game of the season if he maintains his 14-to-18 rush attempts and can double his FPPT average this week against the Bucs. In the four games in which Vick saw significant action previous year with the Jets, they took only 22 shots down the field. For me it is better to go with Maxx Williams and leave Green on the bench. With Vick at QB, the Steelers offense becomes much narrower than that of what it was with Roethlisberger. Going against a Lions team without much bite, Rawls could have a top 15 performance. The defense is likely to crush a few Monster energy drinks before every play to ensure they control this game and keep Bell/Brown in check.
