Fantasy Football Week 2: Start Em’ & Sit ‘Em
Sometimes, you can apply all of the research, statistical evidence and logic in the world to a situation, and it still doesn’t break right.
AnalysisOuch. My risky stack turned out to be a complete dud. But that was against the Vikings, who looked offensively challenged and had to battle a tough environment on Monday Night Football. It’s a dicey play, but we are talking bargains here after all. I am behind after Sunday’s games 93 – 67. But remember, Manning received considerable fantasy hype this offseason thanks to the weapons around him. NFL Fantasy Football was at 30 to 50 airings a day – $3.6 million. Ben McAdoo’s scheme is designed to create quick and easy strikes for Manning and that’s what he’s going to do against this week against the Atlanta Falcons. Expect a good game from him and one or two of San Francisco’s pass-catchers. He owns a 2.93 yards per carry average in his last four games and the Chiefs allowed just 92 rushing yards last week.
So MNF ended just like I thought, with Julio Jones looking like the best wideout in the NFL. Now, Manning has to hit the field on a short week with a Thursday night showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs (a game you can catch tonight on WBZ-TV/CBS), who had an impressive win over the Houston Texans in Week 1. But if he does suit up, I expect a solid outing.
RationaleI know I picked on San Fran last week and got burnt.
Plus, Anderson is running in Gary Kubiak’s zone blocking scheme. The Cards finished seventh in DVOA last year, and they rank 13th in DAVE so far.
Abdullah was a star in college at Nebraska, and had almost 100 all-purpose yards and a TD for the Lions against the Chargers.
I went with my gut and it paid off. I am not rich but I doubled my money. When the dust settled, I did a decent job with my inaugural stacks of the season. His role should only increase as the season goes on. Could he put up a goose egg?
This should come as absolutely no surprise, but each of the top five fantasy defenses in Week 1 scored a touchdown.
This is more of a gut call than anything else. Last week they played Washington, against whom they had three sacks and two interceptions. He targeted Zach Ertz eight times, but Ertz only caught the ball three times for 46 yards.
The Eagles defense is (presumably) better than New York’s. That gives Parker upside, when he only has to compete with Kenny Stills.
Let me know if there are some Fantasy Football lineup tools that you love that I might have missed! Also, don’t be nervous about Baltimore’s defense without Terrell Suggs this week.
In the meantime, Terrance Williams will become the number one receiver in a Tony Romo-led offense. Bradford has to prove it to me before I trust him. Now, that’s not entirely Stewart’s fault. Palmer gets the Bears defense this week, one of the worst defenses in the NFL and one to exploit every week. All of this means that the Broncos are in for a major rebound in the passing game. Like. ever. I think he’s certainly worth a pickup, especially if you’re already streaming in the first place. But Revis Island looms large this week…
All throughout the preseason the Pittsburgh Steelers showed one thing, they can’t stop the pass. That held true last Thursday when Tom Brady torched the Steelers for four touchdowns and 288 yards. With DeSean Jackson out with a hamstring injury, Garcon will be the deep option for quarterback Kirk Cousins and, along with tight end Jordan Reed (11 targets in Week 1), his only real options in the passing game.
