FANTASY PLAYS: Less chaos, but plenty to learn from openers

Fantasy owners find out who’s really getting touches and targets. and unfortunately, there are usually some major injuries. Fuller is worth a fantasy add (and will likely be one of the most-added players across all fantasy leagues), but he may have a few three-point games as the season unfolds. For fantasy football players the draft makes up the core of what your team will look like for the majority of the season, yet the waiver wire is where a season can be severally altered one way or the other.

Winston backers had to be feeling awfully good by the end of the first half Sunday. Walford finished with just three catches for 25 yards, which is more than a little disappointing on a day where Derek Carr racked up 319 passing yards. He did add 30 yards on four receptions, and scored a touchdown, so his day wasn’t a total loss. Fuller creates awesome separation with his blazing wheels, and that’s something that can’t be taught. Green can get a bit forgotten when discussing the NFL’s best wide receivers, but don’t be surprised if he storms the party again this season.

Eli Rogers, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers: Rogers had a successful debut in Week 1 against the Redskins, grabbing six of his seven targets for 59 yards and a touchdown. Fantasy owners may want to consider Allen’s presumed replacement on the waiver wire, Dontrelle Inman. Hogan had the second-most snaps on Sunday out of the New England receivers (behind Julian Edelman).

Manning was a low-end starter in Week 1, thanks to 207 passing yards, 3 TDs and 1 interception on 19/28 passing. This is a guy I would definitely look to take a chance on if you’re looking for running back help or at least depth at the position.

WR Eddie Royal, Chicago Bears: He had a touchdown among his four catches for 57 yards, but he is in his ninth National Football League season and second year with the Bears. With a division champion’s schedule, Washington could be trailing frequently this season, which would put Thompson on the field more often.

Games expected to start after 4 p.m.

Talent has never been ASJ’s problem, but staying healthy and focused have. He was on the field for 59 offensive snaps and even made a hard touchdown catch.

I said to start Matthew Stafford over the likes of Tyrod Taylor and Philip Rivers.

Mike Wallace, WR, Baltimore Ravens: It would seem that Wallace is officially back. More likely a one-week wonder.

We didn’t get to see how these two running backs would split carries in Week 1 as Ivory was hospitalized on Sunday and didn’t get to play. Carson Wentz and the Eagles dominated the Browns for nearly all of their Week 1 matchup, so a healthy Flacco with lots of weapons at his disposal should have success testing their defense. Things could be much different this week with a visit to Cleveland. Cadet, not the inactive C.J. Spiller, was the change-of-pace back for the Saints. While those numbers aren’t exceptional, the fact that the Colts used a 3 WR set on over 50 snaps shows that Dorsett will continue to see opportunity on a weekly basis. The pecking order could remain fluid for a while behind Mark Ingram. Though he could be back later in the season, McCown now has the keys to the offense. That’s not to say that Powell won’t have an impact on the offense, because he will. Cadet had three catches for 14 yards with a score. Will there be enough targets to go around? The more important number however is the 11 targets that Fuller received as he led the way over Deandre Hopkins for looks.

The New Orleans Saints lost a nail-biter to the Oakland Raiders (35-34) on Sunday, but looked absolutely incredible on offense.

The rookie didn’t get much recognition until late in the preseason, so he could still be available. Keep an eye on him. “Last week I had Jameis as my sleeper and he even exceeded my expectations with four touchdowns but I don’t know if I’d play him this week”. I expect that to be the case and for Mariota to scramble a bit more than his four attempts for 19 yards he had against the Vikings.
